Unsettling

While I do enjoy the convenience and expediency afforded by AI, I'm often skeptical of any presented results. Scattered throughout social media are false representations which, are often purported to be genuine. I can't count the number of elaborate overly-decorated log cabins set in unrealistic winter snow scenes I've seen. Another is the better-than-possible wood sculpture of the "artist's" parents sitting together on a park bench along with a statement that the creator deserves our deepest praise for his extraordinary talent. Or who hasn't seen an archeological dig that exposes a larger than life humanoid skeleton with attached wings.

The most unsettling part of all of this isn't as much the presentations as it is the blind belief often offered and affirmed in the commentary.

At first I loved the idea of A.i. to help create art, as someone who often struggles to take what is in my mind and bring it to fruition through so many mediums I felt intrigued. The more I learn about A.i. the more I am concerned about it. In and of itself I don't feel much about it, the idea of an artificial intelligence always awakens that sci-fi Star Trek nerd in me about possibilities and potential and Data from The Next Generation. But, I'm old enough to know Battlestar Galactica and The Terminator too. Is the seemingly blind belief failing eyesight for a lot of us, a worryingly quick deterioration of media literacy, hopefulness or a combination of all of the above... the world may never know.

Star Trek (every single series and all the movies) are absolutely my comfort watch. I also am presently wearing an early 90's Star Trek TNG shirt at this very moment. LOL As for Ai while I want to agree, I think we as a species aren't ready for it. There is still too much greed are far too much imbalance. Also, I have watched far too much scifi to not feel... worried. Terminator, Battlestar Galactica, etc. have given me a healthy dose of trepidation when it comes to how we work when Ai is introduced. I know that sounds so silly, but the worry persists regardless.

No young man would boobify his mom to that extent.

I have a friend who started a facebook group to feed AI back to facebook. Some kind of experimental oroborus of feeding particularly upsetting and over-the-top AI back into the algorithm to ... make facebook explode? ... it's an interesting experiment in satire
