Imagine That

Breathing rolls like a wave, lapping into the littoral
and dumping its mercy in smaller tidepools of me
and I could have easily or even equally said,
"just look how unfair everything is, I'm suffering here"
and it would be so pitiful of me in this wake
to draw life to me from such a miserable place.
I am more fortunate than you even imagine I am.
