The Pleasure of Small Things

Whenever I eat oatmeal, I think about Laurie's mom and how much she liked her "Mother's Oats".

I drink cinnamon tea and remember mom's yummy, buttery and ultra-sugary cinnamon toast that came out of the oven broiler on school mornings in the days before Pop-Tarts became the standard replacement.

When I drink ginger ale, I always think of one of our hospice patients that loved Canada Dry Ginger Ale so much. I'll never forget her saying "Oh my, is that good!". In spite of approaching the end of her life, she found great pleasure in something so small.

pleasure in small things is something i try to hone in on as often as i can, that joy can be found in such small places is such a gift. :)
