The miles between milestones

When you're twelve, a year until the next birthday seems to take forever and the count of days more center around life's remarkable events - weekends, schools end, graduations, etc.
As years pass, the quiet days "in between" become precious as most of we realize how finite they all may be when they are ultimately added together.
Contrary to 80's Canadian rock band Loverboy's assertion, "Everybody is(n't) Working for the Weekend" any longer.
So now a peaceful Monday is just fine as all of the other days of the week. I can't really say that I look more forward to the weekends because it feels like a casual dismissal of the importance in all the days placed between.
What makes a life complete?
Roads traveled and people you meet?
Or is it just the silence of
The times in between?
