My father was an art teacher but managed the community swimming-pool in the summers. There it smelled like chlorine, sun-tan lotion and mustard-covered pretzels.



I once took thirty-six slide photographs of the seat covers in my father's 1950 Dodge Coronet while it was parked at the pool. As I remember he wasn't too upset as he even saved one of them. That car smelled like jute, rubber and cigarettes. (It was an old car even when I was a kid. It was an odd green color and had a Gyromatic transmission)
