Hedgeapples/Osage Oranges aren't practically useful for much but I really like them...and every year I make a half-hearted promise to myself to see them in the tree before they fall -- but they are so well camoflaged among the greenery that I never do.

There are so many other ways I fail to notice things until they're glaringly obvious, even with the people who mean the most to me. Sometimes when I do, I'm often uncertain as to whether such attention may simply be untimely or inappropriate.
