When I was younger, I never really considered that anything I improved, created, or made would ever outlast me. So i just barreled through and forward with things. Now, whenever I'm working on a project - whether it's landscaping, building, restoration, wiring, carpentry, or anything else, I like to put extra care and effort into it because it will probably outlast me. I just want to be sure to leave a little better part of me behind in whatever it might be.

I've been given a great opportunity health-wise so far and many people close to my age (or even younger) haven't been so lucky. I wake up every day and don't really feel much pain or discomfort and I realize this could change in an instant. I do know it is important to do a better job, in appreciation and expression of my gratitude.

Today, this is why I was thankful:

This is a sweet reflection. I have so many things that have outlived the people who made them. Gifts from friends and family who have died. It makes me hyper-aware that non-biological things of mine are likely to be around longer than me, at this point. It's eye-opening and gives me pause, frequently. Thank you for sharing. And for everything you share, here.
