When mom would give me a bath.

I was probably two or three and I still remember her swishing a white washcloth in the water as the tub filled - just to be sure there weren't any 'hot spots'. I clearly recall the faucet sound and the plastic turquoise boat that once had wheels, wouldn't float and really wasn't for the water. The tub smelled like bleach and felt gritty on my butt. All of this felt like safety.

I still use that awful stuff and my spouse always takes the first shower after the fact so that when I take a bath it won't still be gritty.

It is unpleasant and now it seems Magic Erasers do just as well :)

my mom uses this on our bathtub too! the bleach scent and gritty sensation are familiar.

I think we had Vim. I can only remember the gritty feeling. And I don't use the stuff but it still doesn't feel properly clean without it, you know?

I looked up Vim and it seems to be about the same :)
