A sip on a straw
Aug. 15th, 2021 08:38 pmA few of our hospice patients are rather weak and nearing the end of life. Sometimes before leaving, I'll ask if they would like some water.
It's such a simple thing ...yet it is difficult for me to know how important it is to them.
I don't usually cry when we lose a patient, but this gets to me and reminds me of just how weak and selfish we can be. Of course, I know that recognizing our weaknesses is often the key to our strength but this is so hard sometimes.
